Better Business for a Better World
On August 11 students were invited to join the AIESEC event based on entrepreneurship, Better Business for a Better World.Thank you to all who attended, it was a great event with a perfect turnout and some fantastic ideas generated!
For the first part of the afternoon, we heard from:
-Mary Magafakis (State Manager, Young Achievement Australia) on entrepreneurship,
-Anne Evans (AMACC) on how to apply for grants, and
-Peter Vroom (Founder, Vroom & Associates) and
-Amanda Heyworth (CEO, Playford Capital, Former LCP) on their experiences.
Students then split into groups to brainstorm promotion ideas for the following not-for-profit organisations:
-Australian Refugee Association
-DownSyndrome SA
-Carclew Youth
-Trees for Life
The competition for the hypothetical $10,000 grant was fierce, with some creativity coming to the fore in the 5-minute pitches, but judges Peter and Amanda eventually decided on the Trees for Life team as the winner.
Thanks again to all involved, we look forward to making this an annual event!
