July National Conference 2006

Here's the article Robbie, incoming LCP and member of OCC, wrote for our upcoming newsletter:

AIESEC National Conference 2006

A total of 22 South Australian delegates embarked on a journey to Queensland for the annual AIESEC Australia National Conference beginning on July 2nd. Held at a campsite in Maranatha just off the Sunshine Coast, the week provided AIESEC members from across Australia the opportunity to initiate leadership, increase our portfolio knowledge and receive detailed skills training, discuss relevant issues impacting on our local and global society, expand our personal networks as well as undertaking individual and group reflection for our personal development within AIESEC and life itself. Bonding sessions of sporting activities, challenging group tasks, themed nightly parties and line dancing offered much fun and entertainment, making the conference a truly enjoyable and memorable experience.

Being a part of July conference has not only served to motivate and invigorate its members, but also provided the further impetus to challenge our own outlook and perspectives whilst striving to accomplish extraordinary things.

The thoughts of Adelaide University attendee, first year student James Krumrey-Quinn help to encapsulate the conference experience. “The July National conference has given me the inspiration and know-how to make a difference in society…these are practical skills, networks and inspiration that a university degree cannot wholly offer. When in AIESEC there is no leap from university to the workplace – we have our feet in both worlds.”
